FLINT, MI -- Two Flint cousins have been found guilty of shooting into a north side home occupied by nine people, including a couple in their 80s.

It took jurors five days of deliberation to convict 25-year-old Kenneth Montgomery Jr. Friday, Oct. 11, of five felonies, including assault with intent to murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm.

Jurors returned guilty verdicts a week earlier against 26-year-old Quadrell Montgomery. Quadrell Montgomery was found guilty of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm. He was found not guilty of carrying a concealed weapon.

Authorities accused the two men of shooting into a Hamilton Street home during the early morning hours of Sept. 29, 2012. Prosecutors said the cousins had a disagreement with an individual who they believed was staying at the house.

"Miraculously, no one was killed or injured; this easily could have been a mass execution," said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.

The convictions come following a two-jury trial that began Sept. 25 and were tried by Special Assistant Attorney General Barney R. Whitesman who is assigned to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office as part of the Distressed Cities Initiative.

State records show Kenneth Montgomery served time in prison previously after being convicted in 2009 of two counts of attempted larceny from a person. He was discharged from prison Aug. 15, 2012 -- roughly a month before the shooting.

Quadrell Montgomery was also sentenced to prison in 2009 after being convicted of larceny from the person and unlawfully driving away an automobile. He was paroled March 6, 2012.

Kenneth Montgomery faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 1 by Genesee Circuit Judge Geoffrey Neithercut. Quadrell Montgomery faces up to 22 years in prison.
